Does anyone have any experience with xm radio? I was thinking of subscribing, but before I did, I thought I'd get feedback. I'm looking into getting a radio for the house. Are there any accessibility issues I need to know about? Either with xm itself or any stereo I might purchase? Experiences, observations would be appreciated...

Thanks,
Cristobal

Hi Cristobal, the boom boxes arequite accessible because you punch in the channel either through the remote or on the boom box itself. Some displays are bigger than others, but I've never heard of one that talks. Online, you can see some of the info, but it's not the best. Certain channels are easier than others to get to online; they're offering a free trial online. BTW, O and A all the way, high vultage 202; they're hillarious!

Yes, Opie and Anthony, for an extra $1.99 a month but rumor has it that won't be for long. But anyways, XM is nice. If you like lots of music and are into Major League Baseball, and college sports, XM is for you. Each receiver has a remote that you can punch specific channel numbers into, and you do have presets that you can use. It's accessible enough for most people I would think.

Also, XM is good for people who like to hear more than just hits

What, if any, are some differences between XM and serious? just curious...

serius is cheaper (no tears, a one-time one level pay structure), not as many ads, not partly owned by clear channel, a smaller company, a different satelite orbit (xm has two sats serius has three), better music selection (imho, the xm channels I've heard don't sound as good to me), and I've been told sirius sounds better though I haven't heard that to be the case. Sirius is like betamax: It's a better format, but it'll lose out in the end. XM folks are better at marketing.

well i was a xm user and i have to tell you i liked it until i herd about the little price increase they were going to have. but with the price comes that you will be able to get xm on line for free and also opi and anthony for free also with the subscribtion. all in all it is a good service.

The XM Radio online is really awesome now! They've made it accessible! I'm so happy! Now you can just type in the number of the channel you want! Also www.xmfan.com will tell you what's playing in an accessible format.

From what I've read, XM has more chanels than serius. The people I talk to also tell me that they like it better.

XM is great for news, talk, nmsuci, and sports. I don't have any experience with Sirius, but I know that if you like Major League Baseball or the NHL, XM is the only choice for you. There are now four Clear Channel stations that play commercials, but the other approximately 70 music channels do not.
